Enlarge your screens! Our walk started before that map and ended after! But you get the idea. We walked a looooong way and got to see the ocean the whole way. Bruce thought he'd take a bit of a rest and hang out for a minute.
Well, I guess there was a part that wasn't ocean. Due to some damage that they still haven't repaired from 2016, they detoured us through a huge cemetery. No, really!
As we finally saw Bondi Beach (whew!), the first thing you come upon is the Iceberg Swim Club. It's a pool by the beach and to become a member you have to swim 3 Sundays a month for 5 years. You realize that's even in the winter? Mere mortals can pay to enter.
Onward to Bondi Beach then! You may have heard of it because it is one of Australia's most iconic beaches. It is known as being a great surfing beach and we spent some time watching all the surfers today. It then makes sense that it is the home of Australian surf lifesaving with the Bondi Life Saving Club having formed in 1906. (And there's your history lesson for today!) We watched, we laid, we shopped, we ate and we drank. We pretty much did Bondi Beach! Oh, did I mention it got up to 104?!
We think it was about an 8 mile walk there. I say think because our Fitbits are all confused too! However, we looked at this as a rehearsal for our 12 1/2 mile hike coming up in New Zealand. Stay tuned for that one!
