We flew to the South Island of New Zealand yesterday and this is what we woke up to this morning in Queenstown!
That is a blanket of fog outside our bedroom window!
Thank goodness it did clear off very quickly because our next stop was a jet boat ride through canyons. The drivers go through 1000 hours of training (or so they tell us!) before driving their own boat with customers in it. They go so close to the rocks that you're sure your head will be taken off! They do 360 turns that are pretty harrowing to say the least. Here is just a snippet from our video. Bruce and I are in the third row with our maroon hoodies pulled up.
I don't think this 52 second video does it justice. The real video is 3 minutes and the wifi here just won't really let me do that.
Did I mention that it was veeeeeery cold?! They give you a "splash suit" to help somewhat with the water flying at you. I didn't notice it much because I was too busy screaming my head off. 😨
We loved the views on our 2 hour drive from Queenstown down to Te Anau. Everything is so green here! We saw fields of cows and sheep along the way.
Evidently though Bruce and I are snow gods or something. Last fall when we went to Yellowstone, it snowed there earlier than it ever does. You see the snow on these mountaintops called the Remarkables. Well, the New Zealanders were definitely NOT expecting snow this early either! They are coming off their summer and it is supposed to be fall here. We were told by several locals that this just doesn't happen. Guess it does if the Schneiders are around!
