Headin' On Up

Yesterday and today were basically travel days. We are on our way up the east coast to Brisbane where we'll meet up with friends. It's hard for me to get used to the fact that everything is topsy turvy over here. I still never have any idea what day it is! And then there's the fact that as we head north it is getting warmer - the exact opposite of the States, of course!

There was a bit of an issue with Cyclone Iris. Seems she was messing up the weather a bit in the north. Lucky us though that we were south and as we head her way she has been downgraded to a storm and will probably be gone by the time we get far enough along in our travels. Whew! Dodged that bullet!

Last night we stayed in a neighborhood where it was a 5 minute walk to Safety Beach. It was just a stopping point for us for the night, but we jumped in our swimsuits as soon as we got there and went to the beach. It was a normal residential neighborhood...........except for the flocks of lorikeets.............and the three kangaroos we saw sitting in someone's front yard. That will never get old for me!

We continued on today and landed ourselves in a small town called Burleigh Heads. It was close to a place where we rented a kayak for a while.

Oh, and then this guy swooped in and wanted to see what we were doing out there in his territory!

Tomorrow we'll hit Brisbane! We learned that we've been saying it wrong all this time. We have always said Brisbaaaaaane (long a). It's pronounced Brisbin (emphasis put on the first syllable). I listen carefully because, as one person here said to us, I don't want to sound like a Yank!

At any rate, Koalas tomorrow!

And That's A Wrap!

We captured this gorgeous sunset as we left Maui, our last port of call, and essentially the last stop before getting off the ship in ...
